Oregon and Washington were blessed with some of the most beautiful mountains and breath taking streams and rivers. The unique landscape is one of the biggest attractions in the North West. People have been pioneering through these lands for centuries. However, it is importand that the hiker aquires the proper knowledge of the hike before they set off on their journey.. . That is what we are here for. Below is a list of contact numbers for information regarding hiking in general and hiking the northwest. Also included is some of our teams favorite spots and hikes that we feel you could also enjoy.
Northern Oregon is one of Casey's favortite places to spend the weekend hiking and camping. "The dramatic drop from the Mt. Hood forest plateau to the Columbia River accounts for one of the highest concentration of waterfalls found anywhere, which makes for beautiful hikes through temperate rainforests to spectacular cascading rivers." The Gorge's offers great trail ranging from difficult to easy so the whole family can enjoy. Multnomah Falls Recreation area provides a varitey of sites. If you want to experience it all, the Columbia Gorge Trail stretches for more than 35 miles through the length of the Gorge. This multi-day backpack is still under development; when completed, trail planners envision a trail extending from Portland to the Hood River. But you don't have to wait until the whole thing is done to experience a gorgeously varied trail today.
Washington is one of Gregg's favorite places. He has found many trails that are untouched by other hikers which provide solstice in the great outdoors without tons of people around. Otter Falls is one of these places. The hike is about three miles long and there is hardly anyone on it. If you want directions you'll have to contact him personally at gladstone.uoregon.edu/~ghubert. The lake and falls are hidden off the main trail over a small hill. You can slide down the rock from about 35 feet up and after that you get going too fast.
